Vigil

Practical guide

Plan optional cameras and privacy

Decide which rooms need a camera and document storage, access and consent before connecting one.

Start with the household purpose

Cameras are optional in a Vigil setup. State the task that requires video before selecting hardware or placement. A device compatibility check and a household privacy decision are separate parts of the setup.

Document the data path

Identify which device captures data, which software displays it and where any recording is retained. Review optional services separately; local sensing does not establish that every connected camera or vendor cloud is local-only.

  1. List the devices and accounts involved.
  2. Identify who can access each stream or recording.
  3. Check retention and deletion in the relevant product settings.

Respect the product scope

The consumer edition is not represented as HIPAA compliant and does not include a business associate agreement. Select deployment requirements from the actual product terms and intended setting.
