Plan optional presence sensing
Treat presence sensing as a room-specific setup that needs direct observation and repeatable tests.
Define the room and the signal
Optional presence sensing is separate from ordinary device control. Choose the specific question you need answered, such as whether a configured sensor reports presence in a room. Do not interpret a county population statistic as evidence of sensing coverage.
Record observed behavior
Compare the displayed result with known occupied and unoccupied periods. Note placement, room layout, open doors and nearby activity. Changes to those conditions may change the result, so keep the test conditions with the record.
- Observe a known occupied period.
- Observe a known empty period.
- Repeat after restarting the relevant software and hardware.
Keep claims bounded
Core sensing is designed to stay local. Optional alerts require user configuration and separate testing. Sensor nodes listed on the product site are pre-orders; a listing is not proof that hardware has arrived or been installed.
