Plan your first room with Vigil

Choose a measurable first task

Pick one room and one action you can observe, such as controlling a supported light. Write down the device model, the network it uses and what should happen when you operate it. Device compatibility depends on the actual hardware and network; a county or city listing does not establish compatibility.

Prepare the room

Keep the normal switch or device app available during setup. Install the appropriate Vigil build from the product site and follow the current setup instructions. Mac and Windows releases are currently early access; Windows is unsigned early access.

1. Confirm the computer and device are on the intended network.
2. Check discovery and try one manual action.
3. Record whether the device state displayed by the app matches the room.

Verify a complete cycle

Close and reopen the app, repeat the manual action and check recovery after a normal network interruption. Record any missed or delayed action before adding a scene. A successful first command is only one part of the acceptance check.
