Choose a room where you can easily observe the devices involved. A lamp or another supported, low-consequence device gives you a clear result to test. Write down the exact model and connection method; a brand name alone does not establish compatibility.

Work through it

  1. Connect the computer and device to the intended local network. Check the current support information and confirm the device can be discovered and controlled.
  2. Build one scene with an obvious result. Run it several times and compare the actual device state with what the app reports.
  3. Test manual control, a device restart and a temporary connection loss. Record what happens and how you return to a known state.

Check your result

  • The exact model has been tested.
  • Reported and observed states agree.
  • Manual control remains understandable to the household.
