Understand sensing
Test presence sensing in your room
Compare sensor output with known activity in the actual space.
Sensing behavior depends on hardware, placement and the room. Begin with a simple observation log rather than assuming a published capability applies to every setup. Use the supported sensing method available to your installation and label uncertainty clearly.
Work through it
- Record sensor placement, the room layout and the condition you want to detect. Establish an empty-room observation before testing activity.
- Repeat a few known scenarios: entering, sitting still and leaving. Record both missed activity and detections when no one is present.
- Change only one setup variable at a time. Repeat the observations before deciding whether the new position or setting improved the result.
Check your result
- Tests include quiet occupancy and an empty room.
- False detections are recorded.
- The chosen routine fits the observed accuracy.
