Design a scene people can understand

A scene should describe an intended room state. Names such as “Evening reading” are easier to understand when the actions are visible and limited. Avoid adding unrelated devices until the basic scene behaves consistently.

Work through it

1. List the devices and exact target states. Prefer an explicit on, off or supported level over a toggle when you need repeatable behavior.
2. Decide whether the scene runs manually or from a trigger. Add one trigger at a time and observe its effect before adding conditions.
3. Provide a manual override and test partial failure. If one device is offline, the household should still understand which actions happened.

• Repeated execution is predictable.
• A person can recover from an incomplete scene.
